Gleamly Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
App: Gleamly (iPhone and iPad)
Developer: Shruti Kapuriya
The short version
Gleamly works entirely on your device. We don't collect, store, sell or share any of your personal data. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What data the app collects
None. Gleamly doesn't send any information about you, your photos or your use of the app to us or to anyone else.
Access to your photos and videos
Gleamly asks for access to your Photos library so it can:
- scan your photos and videos on your device to find similar photos, similar videos, duplicates, screenshots, blurred photos, screen recordings, short clips, unused burst shots and photos of documents;
- delete the items you choose;
- save compressed copies and Live Photo stills that you ask for; and
- move or copy the items you choose into the Secret Library, and export them back to Photos.
All of this happens on your device. Analysis uses Apple's on-device frameworks. Your photos and videos are never uploaded.
If you allow access to selected photos only, Gleamly works with just those. You can change or remove access at any time in Settings > Gleamly > Photos.
When you delete items, iOS asks you to confirm and moves them to Recently Deleted in the Photos app. iOS keeps them there for up to 30 days unless you empty it.
What is stored on your device
To work quickly and show your progress, Gleamly keeps some information on your device only:
- scan results, such as file sizes and image fingerprints used to group similar photos, so the app doesn't have to rescan everything each time;
- cleaning statistics (space freed, your streak);
- your settings, such as the charging animation style; and
- for the Home Screen widgets: your battery level, storage figures, and the latest scan summary. These are shared between the app and its widgets on your device only.
This information stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Secret Library
The Secret Library lets you keep chosen photos and videos behind a 4-digit PIN, and Face ID or Touch ID if you turn it on.
- Items in the Secret Library are encrypted on your device (AES-GCM) with a key that is created on your device and kept in your device's Keychain. The key is never sent anywhere and isn't included in iCloud Keychain.
- Your PIN isn't stored. Only a salted hash of it is kept in the Keychain. Face ID and Touch ID are handled by iOS; Gleamly never receives your face or fingerprint data.
- The Secret Library isn't synced to iCloud and isn't included in device backups.
- If you delete Gleamly, or erase or replace your device, everything in the Secret Library is permanently lost and can't be recovered by us or by anyone. Export anything you want to keep to Photos first.
- If you choose "Move", the originals are deleted from Photos and go to Recently Deleted. Empty Recently Deleted if you want them removed from Photos completely.
- iOS may keep the Keychain entries (the encryption key and PIN hash) after the app is deleted. They can't open anything once the Secret Library files are gone, and they are removed when you erase your device.
Payments
Gleamly is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. We never ask for or receive payment information.
Third parties
Gleamly includes no third-party SDKs, analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and shares no data with third parties. The app doesn't use App Tracking Transparency because it doesn't track you.
Ratings
Gleamly may occasionally show Apple's standard prompt asking you to rate the app. Apple handles any rating you give, and we don't receive information about who you are.
Data retention and deletion
Because we don't collect data, we hold nothing about you to retain or delete. You control all data on your device:
- delete items from the Secret Library in the app, or erase it with "Forgot PIN?";
- remove photo access in Settings > Gleamly > Photos; and
- delete the app to remove its stored data. Secret Library contents are then gone for good, as described above.
Children's privacy
Gleamly isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If the app ever starts collecting data, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before it does.
