Hey Translator: Voice & Text

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

In short

This policy explains what information Hey Translator: Voice & Text ("Hey Translator", "the app", "we") handles, why, and the choices you have. The app is published by Shruti Kapuriya. If you have a question, contact us at kapuriyashruti9@gmail.com.

1. Text you translate

When you type, paste, speak or scan text, the app picks the first engine that can do the job:

  1. Apple Translation (on device). Runs on your iPhone. Your text is not sent to us or to Apple.
  2. Google ML Kit (on device). Runs on your iPhone after a one-time language download. Your text is not sent to us or to Google. Translations from this engine show "Translated by Google".
  3. Google Gemini (online, Pro only). For Pro languages, or when the on-device engines can't translate a pair, the text is sent to Google's Gemini API through Firebase AI Logic so Google can return the translation. We send only the text and the language pair. It is not linked to your name, email or any account. Google processes it under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Please avoid translating passwords, card numbers or other highly sensitive information with Pro languages.

We do not keep a copy of your text on our own servers.

2. Microphone and speech

With your permission, the app uses the microphone so you can speak instead of type. Speech is turned into text by Apple's Speech framework. Where your iPhone supports it, this happens on the device. Otherwise Apple may process the audio on its servers under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not record, store or receive your audio.

Read-aloud uses Apple's built-in voices on your iPhone.

3. Camera and photos

With your permission, the app uses the camera, or a photo you choose, to find text to translate. Text recognition is done on your iPhone by Apple's Vision framework. Images are not uploaded or stored by us. The recognized text is then translated as described in section 1.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

Hey Translator Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your card or Apple ID details.

We use Adapty to record subscription events (product, price, currency, purchase and renewal dates, transaction ID, and a random app profile ID). This helps us check subscription status and understand how subscriptions perform. It is not linked to your name or email and is not used for advertising.

Refund requests. If you request a refund from Apple, Apple may ask us for information about how the app was used. With your consent (asked once after your first purchase), Adapty sends Apple non-personal usage information, such as whether the subscription was used, to help Apple decide. You can turn this on or off at any time in Settings in the app.

5. Keeping the service working

Firebase is provided by Google. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

6. Stored on your iPhone

Your translation history, favorites, recent languages and preferences are saved only on your device. You can delete history and favorites inside the app, and deleting the app removes all of it. We have no copy.

7. What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or browsing history. The app shows no ads and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
